Absolutely. When we designed our service we were looking to fill the gap that many women felt when seeking trustworthy financial advice. When we spoke to women we found they wanted trustworthy, practical advice that would treat them with respect. It’s probably not a surprise then, that we found that Men want that too. So while our services have been designed around the needs of women, men are certainly welcome. So whether you are seeking advice or education on your own or as part of a couple, you are most welcome. At Finance Women gender is no barrier to building your financial security and independence.
You are never too young (or old for that matter). In the past, financial planners traditionally only provided advice to clients in their 50s. Why? because in the old world the way you paid for advice was through commissions. Sometimes planners provided advice to clients in their 30s and 40s but mainly this was for insurance (you guessed it funded by commissions). It was just not financially viable to see clients who were younger because they just didn’t have enough money to invest to make it worthwhile.
This has always frustrated me because I think those who have less probably need financial planning assistance the most.
While we do have clients in their 50s and 60s and 70s, we also have clients in their 20s, 30s and 40s.
We have had the pleasure to give advice to clients the day before they started their first full time job. In these cases we are not looking at investing big sums of money, instead we look at choosing a good value super fund, making sure the default insurances on offer are offering good value for money, looking at how to better manage debts and making and budgeting help to make the most of day to day cash flow and getting your best foot forward in meeting your long (and short) term goals.
While some clients come to us with a lump sum to invest (whether through savings, inheritances or financial settlements) that’s not the case for all.
Many of our clients come to us for advice on budgeting and repaying debt. We can make sure your super fund is making the most of itself and providing value for money (particularly important if your balance is small). We can look to make sure that your insurances are at a sensible level for your particular situation. That the small amount in your savings is working in the best way possible and that if you have debt, you know what order to pay it off in to get ahead faster.
So remember, we don’t judge you on how much or how little you’ve got to invest. We are interested in helping you to make the most of your particular situation and help you build your financial security and independence.
No problems. We are human, we like to meet face-to-face however sometimes that’s just not possible.
Luckily we’ve mastered modern technology (well at least in part) and we are able to do financial planning and financial education over the web or the phone.
We have many clients who live right across Australia in cities and rural and regional areas. We even have a couple of expat Australians seeking advice from the other side of the world.

We understand. A full financial plan is an investment in your future. You might like the idea but for whatever reason you’re not quite ready for that yet.
With this in mind we have developed Financial Strategy sessions which are 90 minute sessions which allow you to speak to a financial adviser about what options are available to you, the pros and cons and clarify your understanding of how different aspects of your finances operate. Some clients wish to speak to us purely about their own circumstances, others want to include and involve their partner in the process (male or female). Whichever option you choose we’ll talk you through how to make it work best for your needs.
Your first appointment with us is a strategy session, where we discuss the different options available to you the pros and the cons. We operate a fee-for-service advice practice, that means you do pay for your first appointment. The advantage to you is that we don’t spend the appointment trying to tell you how great we are, instead we spend the entire 90 mins focused on what you need and want.
We understand that you want to be sure it is money well spent, so before we book an appointment, we talk to you on the phone. This gives you an opportunity to explain what you think you need and what you are looking for. We will explain in detail the process and make sure that we can deliver what you are looking for. By taking time to talk to you in detail before the first appointment you have the opportunity to check whether we will be a good fit for you. If during that phone call we aren’t able to deliver what it is you particularly need and want then we can often refer you to the right place.
